When working in a small home bar, don’t be afraid to let your favorite bottled drinks make a guest appearance. This week I’m looking at a local Austin company: Bhoomi Cold-Pressed Cane Waters. First up, a cocktail made from their Turmeric Immunity blend with Ashwagandha and Lemon.
Editing is key when designing a cocktail that highlights your bottled beverage of choice. Choose spirits and ingredients that either reinforce or compliment existing flavors in your drink. Bhoomi Immunity is earthy and lightly spiced with sweet lemon notes. I chose a quality vodka for it’s neutrality– the goal is to let the Bhoomi water have a presence– and reduced the spirit amount to an ounce and a half to keep the alcohol from overpowering any delicate flavors. I then combined fresh lemon juice with a lightly spiced turmeric-based Sun Syrup to amplify Bhoomi’s base notes.
To avoid diluting the drink even further, sip it over a large ice cube! At the finish, this cocktail is a refreshing, bright, day-sipper perfect for those moments when you’re craving something savory and spiced.

Daybreak Mocktail
As a sommelier, I’m constantly on the hunt for complex drinks that don’t always require alcohol. Here’s a booze-free alternative with just as much Summer verve.

- 2 oz Sun Syrup
- 2 oz dry Ginger Beer
- .75 oz Lemon
Directions
Combine all ingredients over ice in a tall Collins glass. Garnish with an orange or lemon swath & enjoy!
